Armstrong’s School of Singing was founded in 2012 by head vocal coach Adam Wood to educate students of singing, not only in the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of great singing, but most importantly the ‘how’. In this information age you can easily find various methods of ‘what’ you need to know and ‘why’ on the internet, via a CD/DVD package to teach yourself at home or in the endless books written on singing technique. Texts about singing can be found explaining chest and head voice as early as the 13th century, in fact, the ‘what and why’ of great singing has hardly changed since the teachings of Porpora, Garcia and Lamperti. However, what Adam always found missing as an early student was a way of knowing ‘how’ to correctly apply the information provided by his teachers, especially when practicing at home.
This is why at Armstrong’s we have developed a unique and revolutionary practice method to maximize your ability to practice correctly at home. Our practice method makes it easier to know ‘yes, that was good’ or ‘no, that was bad’, helping students fast track body awareness and gain the physical feedback required to improve and find their technique. Our easy to follow method is tailored to each student, using only the very best vocal techniques and exercises for their physical, mental and emotional needs. Our lessons cover not only singing technique, but also address nerves, mental preparation, body tension and developing body awareness.
At Armstrong’s School of Singing our staff are committed to providing students with a safe, friendly, nurturing environment designed to encourage growth and development. All teaching staff have a working with children check and are personally hand picked and trained by Adam. Our teachers are chosen not only for their ability to teach singing, but also for their passion to help others grow and develop, with every teacher bringing a valuable and unique set of skills to the school.
At Armstrong's School of Singing we believe in your potential and want to see you achieve your dreams!
